Article 1: Name
This organization shall be known as The Elkhart Bowling Association, hereinafter EBA, Hall of Fame Committee, hereinafter referred to as EBAHF. The fiscal year shall be from September 1 to August 31.
Article 2: Purpose
To honor the Bowlers of The Elkhart Bowling Association who have been instrumental in the growth, progress and promotion of bowling in Elkhart.
Article 3: Committee Membership
The committee shall be appointed by the President of EBA and consist of the following:
Chairman of the Board EBA
Secretary EBA
Either the President or the Vice-President of EBA
2 Directors EBA who can be line officers or Life members of EBA
4 Past or current members of EBA at least 3 of which shall not be a current EBA
Directors, if such qualified individuals can be located and are willing to serve
Article 4: Officers
At the first meeting of the committee each season, the committee shall choose from among its members, a chair, who shall serve for the balance of the EBAHF fiscal year.
Article 5: Meetings
The President or the Vice-President of EBA (whichever is on the committee) shall call the first meeting of the committee. Subsequent meetings shall be called by the chairman or upon the request of three members of the committee. A quorum of the committee shall be present to transact any business.
Article 6: Nominations
Nominations will be accepted from anyone until 60 days prior to the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony with a minimum of twenty-five supporting signatures of EBA members before accepting the nomination and placing the name on the ballot. Each nomination must indicate the category in which the nominee shall be placed and shall be accompanied by a resume to their accomplishments. Nominations received late or without the required resume will not be considered that year, but if the application is corrected in time, it will be considered the following year.
All nominations that are not elected will be carried forward on the ballot from year to year with their resume brought up to date, except if a nominee does not receive votes for two consecutive years, he will then have to be re-nominated to be again considered.
The EBAHF shall select its inductees from the following categories - Bowling Ability and Bowling Meritorious Service.
For Awards in both categories judging will be based on their bowling activities while a member of the Elkhart Bowling Association.
a. The nominee must be or have been active in the Elkhart area for a minimum of ten years.
b. The nominee must be at least fifty years of age.
c. In addition to the information contained in the resume, the committee shall consider other information known to it, including general character and reputation of the nominee.
d. The ballot shall consist of all nominees that are qualified to be considered. Each Committee member shall be allowed three votes on each category of nominations, with a point system of five points, three points and one point. The committee member is not required to use all three votes, or any of them.
e. To be elected, the nominee must receive 60% of the maximum number available points (i.e. If there are eight committee members voting, the points must total at least 24, if seven are voting, the points must total at least 21).
f. If there are more than two nominees in any category, and less than two are elected on the first vote, a second vote shall be taken with the same format after first removing the name of anyone already elected as well as the person(s) receiving the fewest votes, but only if that results in names still remaining on the ballot.
g. There shall be no more than two inductees in any category in any year.
Article 7: Awards
Presentations shall be made at the Annual Banquet Meeting of the Elkhart Bowling Association.
Presentation shall be made to the nearest of kin if an inductee is deceased.
Hall of Fame members shall be listed in the Annual Year Book.
Article 8: Expenses
All expenses shall be paid for by the Elkhart Bowling Association.
Article 9: Amendments
Amendments to the by-laws of the EBAHF must be presented to the Secretary at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting. Any provision of the by-laws may be amended or repealed by two-thirds (2/3) vote at the Annual Meeting of the Elkhart Bowling Association.
